Dolly Parton shares her health update: 'Some good news and a bit of bad news'

Dolly Parton Cancels Concerts Due to Health Issues

Country music icon Dolly Parton recently shared that she will be canceling some of her upcoming concerts due to health reasons. In a social media update, she explained the situation, mentioning that she had to postpone her Las Vegas residency earlier this September because of ongoing health challenges.

Parton, who celebrated her 80th birthday in January, announced that six of her shows have been canceled entirely. She stated, “I’m here to give you an update on some things going on in my life.” She reassured fans that there’s both good news and some not-so-good news regarding her health situation. The good news? She’s responding well to treatment and feeling better each day.

However, she has been struggling with kidney stones, which have impacted her digestive and immune systems significantly. “As my grandmother used to say, the drugs and treatments can make you a bit dizzy, so it takes a while to feel ready for stage performances,” she noted. Carrying instruments in high heels and heavyweight costumes doesn’t help either.

Parton offered a metaphor for her health, likening herself to a vintage car in need of some serious repairs. “Once restored, it can run better than ever, but when we took a look under the hood, we found several issues that need addressing,” she explained, adding a light-hearted touch about needing to “replace the spark plugs” since she refuses to lose her energy.

Even with the setbacks, she remains hopeful. Parton mentioned that she’s working on a new museum and hotel in Nashville, along with a Broadway musical based on her life. It seems she’s trying to keep her spirits up, joking, “I know I’m still crazy, but they never said anything about my mental health!”
