Dolly Parton Skips Dollywood Event Due to Health Concerns
Country music legend Dolly Parton had to miss a significant Dollywood event on Friday after her doctors advised her to stay in Nashville because of ongoing health issues.
The 80-year-old, known for her hit “9 to 5,” was set to appear at the launch of a new roller coaster at the Tennessee theme park called Night Flight Expedition. However, she joined the festivities virtually instead, as her doctor recommended she avoid traveling.
“I’m still in Nashville, and I’m sorry about that,” Parton expressed in a video shown at the event, according to a report shared by a local newspaper.
“I planned to be there in person,” she added. “I’ve previously mentioned that I’ve been dealing with some health problems, and at times I feel a bit dizzy and dehydrated.”
In her appearance, adorned with fairy wings, she confided, “So, the doctor in Nashville clipped my wings and said, ‘I’m not going to travel this week.'” She indicated that she likes to keep her fans informed and promised to provide updates on her condition.
Parton’s absence is particularly notable as she has been recuperating from health issues that have caused her to reduce her performance commitments. Earlier this year, she announced the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency, which had already been rescheduled from 2025 to September 2026 due to these concerns.
Despite the hurdles, Parton remains optimistic. She mentioned that she’s responding well to treatment, although she’s not yet ready to perform at the level she usually expects of herself.
Parton has not gone into detail about her specific health issues but noted that her doctors have assured her that her conditions are manageable. She concluded with gratitude towards her fans, saying she will always appreciate their support.
