CMA to Honor Dolly Parton with Special TV Event
The Country Music Association (CMA) is set to pay tribute to the iconic Dolly Parton with a two-hour live television special on October 21. This event, titled “CMA Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton,” was announced in a statement from the organization on September 16.
According to the CMA, the tribute will be a joyful and emotional celebration of Parton—a multifaceted artist, songwriter, entertainer, humanitarian, and entrepreneur whose music and kindness have resonated with audiences across generations worldwide.
This special will feature live performances, archival footage, and personal anecdotes that highlight her remarkable journey, showcasing her as one of America’s most cherished entertainers and philanthropists.
Sarah Trahern, the CMA’s CEO, emphasized the significance of honoring Parton’s legacy, stating, “It’s not just an opportunity; it’s our responsibility. This special is our way of expressing gratitude on behalf of every artist, industry member, and fan who has found solace in her music.”
The event will take place at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, a location that holds special importance for Parton. Dr. Greg Jones, Belmont’s President, remarked on her broader impact, noting, “Dolly Parton embodies creativity, generosity, and a commitment to uplift others, qualities that have inspired countless individuals and align seamlessly with Belmont’s mission.”
He added, “Partnering with Dolly for the launch of DOLLY U and the premiere of her musical at the Fisher Center was an honor. It’s a privilege to welcome artists, friends, and fans from around the globe to celebrate her extraordinary life and legacy from this Nashville stage, honoring a woman whose love for Tennessee is evident in all that she does.”
In addition, the CMA and Belmont University will be donating proceeds from the event to Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides millions of children with a free book each month, fostering a lifelong love of reading.
The organization plans to share more details soon, including information about performers involved and ticket pricing for the upcoming special.
