Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, requested prayers for the iconic country singer on Tuesday. This comes just a week after Dolly announced that she would need to postpone a concert in Las Vegas due to a medical procedure. “Last night I stayed up all night praying for my sister Dolly,” Freida shared in a Facebook post. She noted that many are aware Dolly hasn’t been feeling well lately.
Freida expressed her strong belief in the power of prayer and called upon those who love Dolly to join her in prayer. “She is strong and loved. I believe she will be okay because all the prayers for her have been answered. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!” she stated.
Meanwhile, Parton had previously informed fans of the postponement via social media on September 28. “Unfortunately, we have to postpone our upcoming concert in Las Vegas,” she posted. “I have some health issues and the doctor has told me that I will need some procedures.”
The singer was scheduled to perform six shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace later this year. She added some humor to the situation, saying, “I joked with them that it must be time for a 100,000-mile checkup.” She also noted, “Given the circumstances, I can’t rehearse and put together the show I want you to see.”
Parton emphasized her dedication to her audience, saying, “You guys are paying a lot of money to see me perform, and I want to do my best for you.” She assured fans that while she would be working on projects from Nashville, she just needed some time for preparation. “And God hasn’t said anything about quitting business yet,” she reassured, adding that she believes this is just a phase to slow down for “even bigger adventures.”
She confirmed that the show would be rescheduled for next September. Earlier, in September, Parton was absent from an event at Dollywood celebrating a new roller coaster. She later explained she was dealing with complications from a kidney stone that resulted in an infection, and her doctor advised against travel for the time being.
Parton also recently mourned the loss of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March after nearly 60 years of marriage.
