Dolphins coach was 'choking' woman in domestic violence situation: 911 recording

Domestic Incident Involving Miami Dolphins Coach Ryan Crow

A woman reported a domestic incident involving Ryan Crowe, the outside linebacker coach for the Miami Dolphins, claiming she witnessed him “suffocate” a female outside her Fort Lauderdale apartment, which led to his arrest for domestic violence early Friday morning.

According to the police report, Crow was charged with a count of battery related to domestic violence. He entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday.

The 911 caller described the situation, stating, “The man started choking his girl outside. Then they went back upstairs, and I heard him smack her.”

The caller clarified that no weapon was involved, simply stating it was “just physical.” They added that the altercation started around 11:45 PM, and they could hear the couple fighting afterward.

The caller identified Crow as a bearded man, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, while describing the victim as white, blonde, and thin.

The case report noted that several witnesses observed the incident, suggesting that Crow seemed to be putting his arms around the victim in a manner resembling a takedown.

Despite the incident, the woman involved reportedly indicated she was not injured and that she did not wish to provide a formal statement.

When police arrived at the apartment around 12:15 AM on August 29th, they found Crow and the woman engaged in a “verbal discussion about past relationships,” and it was suggested that Crow had pushed the woman out of anger.

The Dolphins placed Crow on administrative leave, appointing senior defense aide Sean Ryan to temporarily take over his duties. Miami head coach Mike McDaniel addressed the situation in a press conference on Monday, acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations.

The team released a statement indicating that they are aware of the serious issues Crow is involved with and are currently gathering more information. They confirmed that Crow’s administrative leave was effective immediately and that they are in communication with the NFL regarding the matter.

As a point of context, Crow is entering his second season with the Dolphins after previously spending six seasons elsewhere.
