Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips revealed that a knee injury sustained in Monday night's blowout loss to the Titans has ended his 2024 season just four weeks into the season.
Phillips announced in an Instagram post that the injury will require reconstructive surgery, marking the second straight season this season has been screeched to a halt due to injury.
“I believe that our lives are determined by how we respond to adversity. In moments of uncertainty, defeat, and sadness, it is natural to question our purpose and wonder what the meaning of this pain is. That’s the thing,” he wrote. “I know that my purpose is to inspire others to never give up no matter how many times they get knocked down. I feel strong knowing that I am greater than myself. Through him, I will persevere. There is nothing in life that I cannot overcome unless I give up.
“A mission is still a mission. I still have work to get done and I intend to win this case and win. Thank you for your continued support and love. Fin Up.”
“I'm devastated to have to miss another season, but my resolve is stronger than ever…I will be back,” Phillips wrote in an Instagram caption that included his statement. .
The injury occurred during the second and third quarters of Miami's loss to Tennessee on Monday Night Football.
Phillips initially injured his knee in the second quarter, forcing him to leave the field and briefly visit the medical tent before returning.
The problem recurred the following quarter, and Mr. Phillips was clearly frustrated.
Phillips suffered a season-ending injury when he tore his Achilles tendon on Black Friday last year against the Jets.

The linebacker had one sack this season before the injury, but he has 23 sacks in four years with the Dolphins.
