Dolphins players communicate with Tyreek Hill through captain voting

Tyreek Hill’s status with the Dolphins seems a bit shaky.

The wide receiver, who held the role of team captain from 2022 to 2024, notably wasn’t chosen in the latest captain selection, which Miami recently announced.

Instead, the team opted for Tua Tagovailoa, Aaron Brewer, Alec Ingold, Jordyn Brooks, Zach Sieler, and Bradley Chubb.

Interestingly, Brooks and Chubb will be stepping into their captaincy roles for the first time.

Coach Mike McDaniel expressed enthusiasm about the voting process, saying, “This year, I’m really excited about how unified the team was. The decision on these six individuals was overwhelmingly supported.”

He emphasized the focus on rewarding those who prove themselves daily.

Last season, Hill recorded 959 yards and six touchdowns over 17 games.

McDaniel noted that the captain selection wasn’t solely about who was chosen or left out.

Throughout his career, Hill has attracted criticism for his behavior on and off the field. At the close of last season, he left the locker room expressing disappointment over missing the playoffs, stating that trading away from Miami might be a possibility.

He remarked, “This is my first time aiming for the playoffs. If it’s here or somewhere else, I’m open to exploring options.”

As training camp began, Tagovailoa addressed Hill’s trade comments directly.

“When you make a statement like that, it’s not easy to just walk it back with an apology,” Tagovailoa explained back in July.
