Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa shares how he ignores distractions and criticism

Tua Tagovailoa Focuses on Family Amid Challenges

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is shifting his focus more towards his family and tuning out external distractions. Head coach Mike McDaniel highlighted Tagovailoa’s skill in blocking out any noise, be it positive or negative, during a recent press conference.

“This year hasn’t been that challenging for me,” Tagovailoa said, mentioning he doesn’t engage with social media. “I just go home to my kids. No matter how a game goes—whether I’ve thrown five interceptions or five touchdowns—they’re always excited to see me.”

The Dolphins have had a tough start to the season, standing with just one win and four losses, their lone victory coming against the New York Jets in Week 4.

Tagovailoa’s situation has become even trickier since the team’s leading wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, will miss the rest of the season due to a severe injury sustained during the win over the Jets, where he dislocated his knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL.

Even without Hill, Tagovailoa managed a solid performance in their recent game, which ended in a narrow loss to the Carolina Panthers, 27-24.

This season, the 27-year-old quarterback has successfully completed nearly 71 percent of his passes, amassing 1,008 yards, along with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions over five games.

The Dolphins’ next challenge is on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against the Los Angeles Chargers. Regardless of the game’s outcome, Tagovailoa knows his kids will be there, happy to see him.
