Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was reportedly detained by police on Sunday morning, just hours before the team was set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars to open the season.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN that the NFL star was detained by police for a suspected traffic violation.

“We just split with Tyreek and he's ready to play today,” Rosenhaus said.

Rosenhaus did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

“WR Tyreek Hill was involved in a traffic accident this morning about a block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police,” the team said in a statement on the X. “He has since been released. Several teammates witnessed the accident and stopped to offer their support.”

“Tyreek and all other involved players have arrived at the stadium safely and are expected to play in today's game.”

The five-time All-Pro will be looking to build on his outstanding season in 2023. He was receiving MVP attention for much of last season. He finished with 119 catches, 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. He led the league in receiving yards and touchdown catches.

Hill is entering his third season with the Dolphins, but Miami is still in search of an elusive playoff run.
