Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill pokes fun at police detention in touchdown celebration

Tyreek Hill was detained by police just hours before the Miami Dolphins' first win of the 2024 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he still proved himself with his play in Sunday's game.

Hill finished with seven catches for 130 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown catch on a pass from Tua Tagovailoa.

After the touchdown, he shared a surprising celebration with teammate Jaylen Waddle.

The star wide receiver put his hands behind his back as if he was handcuffed, and Waddle walked up to him and “unhooked” the imaginary handcuffs.

Jason Sanders made a 52-yard field goal to give Miami a 20-17 win over Jacksonville.

Hill's teammate, Callie Campbell, told ESPN that he was also handcuffed while trying to “calm down” the situation.

Miami-Dade Police placed one of the officers involved in Hill's detention on “administrative duty” hours after the incident.

“That should tell you all the information you need,” Hill said. NFL Network.

He said CBS Sports He would not comment directly on the situation, preferring to let “bygones be bygones,” but thanked his teammates for trying to help him through the situation.

“That was awesome. I was so excited. … I mean, this is so much more than football, the camaraderie outside of football is amazing,” he said. “They really put their lives on the line for me. Shout out to Jonnu Smith. Shout out to Calais Campbell. Shout out to Drew Brooks. Shout out to everybody. Shout out to my mom.”
