Former Yankees pitcher Domingo German has been transferred to a new team.
The right-handed pitcher agreed to a $1.25 million minor league contract with the Pirates on Friday, the Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed.
Heyman also said he has a $2.25 million team option with a performance bonus for 2025.
German, 31, was acquired by the Yankees in 2014 in the Nathan Eovaldi deal and was a mainstay on the roster until last year, boasting a wealth of high points and an effort that included a perfect game on 99 pitches against the Athletics last year. As a result, they won 18 games in 2019.
But his success has sparked controversy beyond the diamond.
In 2020, German, who was initially placed on administrative leave, was suspended for 81 games for violating MLB’s domestic violence policy following an incident with his then-girlfriend, and was suspended for 81 games due to COVID-19. He missed the entirety of the shortened season.
He was also placed on the restricted list on suspicion of alcohol abuse after the Wall Street Journal reported in August that he got drunk and got into a confrontation with a Yankees member in the clubhouse.

The paper’s Mark Sanchez reported in January that German had completed the required steps in an inpatient treatment program, but was still voluntarily contacting specialists to ensure he was progressing well. It was reported.
He became a free agent after being granted waivers in November.
Last season, German posted a 4.56 ERA with 114 strikeouts in 108 innings in 19 starts.
He pitched 522 1/3 innings for the Yankees with 543 strikeouts and a 4.41 ERA.
