Worlds Collide Event Sets Attendance Record
The recently co-produced Worlds Collide event between WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide has made history, achieving the largest live audience in the event’s history earlier this month.
During the event, Dominique Mysterio emerged victorious against El Hijo del Vikingo, claiming the AAA Mega Championship. Meanwhile, El Hijo de Wagner Jr. successfully defended the AAA Latin American Championship against competitors Dragon Lee, Ethan Page, and JD McDonagh. Additionally, Pagano and Psycho Clown retained their titles as AAA World Tag Team Champions.
On September 12th, audience numbers peaked with 773,000 live viewers tuning in across WWE, WWEEspañol, and AAA’s YouTube and Facebook channels. The event took place at the Cocca Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada. Impressively, over 4.1 million viewers had watched the show within the first 24 hours of its release.
This marks the second collaborative Worlds Collide event since WWE’s acquisition of AAA was announced back in April, prior to WrestleMania 41. The inaugural event occurred in June, where WWE stars began making regular appearances at AAA shows.
Dominique Mysterio, son of the legendary Rey Mysterio—often hailed as one of the greatest luchadores in wrestling history—has been on quite a roll. He previously held a title after defeating AAA’s Octagon Jr. and has now set his sights on his next challenger.
Currently, Mysterio is a dual champion, enjoying considerable success since capturing the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 41.
