Don Lemon Suggests Pelosi Called Him the “Face of the First Amendment”
Former CNN anchor Don Lemon stated that Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House, implied he could become the new “face of the First Amendment” following his recent arrest.
Lemon was taken into custody Thursday night on suspicion of participating in an anti-immigrant enforcement demonstration at a church in Minnesota last month. After his court appearance in Los Angeles, he was released without bail, with his next court date set for February 9 in Minneapolis.
Since the arrest, Lemon has garnered significant support from liberal commentators and Democratic figures, including Pelosi.
In a recent live stream, Lemon mentioned that after his release, Pelosi reached out to him, urging him to “stay strong.” She suggested that this situation might help him embody the First Amendment. Lemon recounted, “She encouraged me, saying, ‘We have to do it right.’ When I asked her about future elections, she confidently asserted, ‘Absolutely 100%.’ I think I’ll take her word for it.”
Despite agreeing with Pelosi’s optimistic view on the midterm elections in 2026, Lemon expressed concerns regarding the Constitution. He emphasized the need for the media to unite, particularly after Pelosi’s arrest.
“In times like these, a free and independent press is crucial,” Lemon observed. “People who believe in democracy and the Constitution must band together. If we let small disagreements divide us now, we risk losing whatever we have left of the Constitution.” He sounded a bit urgent when he added that things can’t continue on this path—if they do, the foundation could crumble.
Lemon faced charges of conspiracy to deprive rights and violating the FACE Act due to his role in a protest that disrupted a church service in Minnesota. He had previously attracted attention for livestreaming leftist activists confronting the church during Sunday services, asserting he was there as a journalist, not a participant. However, the Justice Department’s indictment claims that protest organizers coordinated with him beforehand.
