Former President Donald Trump raised more than a few eyebrows on Saturday during a campaign stop in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, when he shared a locker room anecdote about golf great Arnold Palmer.
Trump focused on the four-time Masters winner and prominent Republican, who was born in La Trobe, because Pennsylvania was a prime target for Trump's campaign. In fact, Trump spoke for about 10 minutes about the golf legend. But at one point, he probably gave a little too much information in locker room talk about Palmer. CBS News Reported.
“He was an incredible man, an incredible champion, and he was from Latrobe,” Trump said, leading with an anecdote.
“This is a man who was completely human,” Trump quipped. “This guy was strong and tough. I refuse to say it, but when he took a shower with other pros, they came out of there and said, 'Oh my God, believe me. I can't do it.''
“I had to say it,” President Trump said with a laugh.
But Palmer's daughter didn't find the epic story interesting. While she said she was “not really upset” by Trump's comments, she did not support his words.
She added, “I don't have much to say,” before insisting, “I think I chose the wrong approach to remembering my father, but what are we going to do?”
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson was also asked about Trump's offensive remarks during his visit on CNN. state of the union Sunday program. But he sidestepped the issue and implored Harris to “put aside the rhetoric.”
“This should be a policy issue, not a personal issue,” Johnson said.
