Trump Calls for End to Epstein Investigation

WASHINGTON – President Trump expressed on Friday that the federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein should come to a close, asserting that the Justice Department “does work.” His statement follows ongoing scrutiny regarding previous government lawsuits against sex traffickers, some of whom are now deceased.

“The confused and badly failed Democrats did nothing about Jeffrey Epstein while he was alive—except to make friends with him, travel to his island, and accept his money!” Trump stated emphatically in a lengthy social media post.

The former president continued, “They knew all about Epstein, but now that he’s no longer here, they suddenly seem to care deeply about his victims.”

“The Justice Department fulfilled its responsibilities. They’ve provided everything they needed. It’s time to put an end to the ‘Democrat Epstein hoax’ and acknowledge the significant efforts of Republicans,” he added.

Trump downplayed the importance of pursuing more information regarding the late pedophile, who was found dead in a Manhattan prison in August 2019 before facing trial on sex trafficking charges. The DOJ is currently reviewing case files while considering releasing investigation documents regarding the case.

In the mid-2000s, Epstein pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offenses, including soliciting minors, and was mandated to register as a sex offender through an agreement overseen by then-Miami US attorney Alex Acosta.

On Tuesday, a House committee convened with Epstein’s survivors to gather additional details about individuals potentially connected to his sex trafficking network, including his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

However, a report released in July by the DOJ and FBI concluded that there is no “client list” of influential individuals linked to Epstein who could face further legal action.
