‘Donald Trump Is in Command’

CNN’s John King said on “The Situation Room” Tuesday that a new poll shows former President Donald Trump is projected to beat President Joe Biden.

“New numbers came out today with more bad news for the president. So let’s take a look at this. Let’s start with 2020, when Joe Biden was winning in a pretty big way, 306-232. This is how the map is being filled in. When you look at now, remember back then because the differences are stark. This is how CNN Politics, led by David Chalian, projects the race right now. And now, dark red is Republican and light red is Republican. If this map was drawn and the election was held today and the map was drawn like this, Donald Trump would win the election, even if the votes changed to blue,” King said.

He continued, “Donald Trump is going to win the election, but the map is even more favorable for Donald Trump. If you look at this new poll today, it’s a small lead. But Donald Trump is currently leading in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, and most people believe he’s currently leading in Nebraska 2, which allocates its electoral votes by district, just like Maine.”

He added, “Look at the map right now. Donald Trump’s approval rating is 303. The latest polls today have the president’s approval rating below 40 in these battleground states. The president’s vote count is below 40 right now in most of these states. 42 in Nevada. It’s going to be very difficult. We’re going to count the votes in 16 weeks, 60 weeks from tonight, and we’re going to turn this around. And Democrats are worried right now because they think I didn’t say this was going to happen, but they’re saying the president is going to have to spend more time and resources in places like Virginia because places like New Hampshire are competitive. If you look at this map, you can see what the Democrats are making. Wisconsin is blue. Let’s move Wisconsin over here.” “Some Democrats are arguing that Donald Trump is on a realistic path to winning 330 electoral votes, or maybe even more, as of today, because they think there are other states here. The Trump campaign is saying maybe Minnesota, the Trump campaign is saying maybe New Mexico. Let’s be careful. These are traditionally Democratic states.”

King concluded: “But the position of the president, his approval rating, the number of votes, how people view age, how people view the state of the economy, are all very unfavorable to him right now. So even if we went back to the drawing board, Donald Trump is in the lead. The numbers are getting worse for the president.”
