Donald Trump is not required to deport 10 million undocumented immigrants.

US immigration enforcement has raised some eyebrows recently, highlighted by two significant developments: first, there was a drop of 1.5 million in the number of domestically born individuals in just the first half of 2025. Second, ICE is on track to remove about 400,000 undocumented immigrants annually.

This brings us to a pretty clear takeaway: more illegal immigrants seem to be finding their own way out rather than facing expulsion. Many Americans I think want this change. It’s simply more sensible than what has been happening lately, not to mention the chaotic roundups that have taken place.

The Trump administration introduced a notable ramp-up in deportations, with the current projection of 400,000 representing a sharp increase from the Biden administration’s last reported figure of 271,000. This increase seems to stem from a realization among Democrats about how frustrating their border policies have been for voters.

The rhetoric from Trump’s team plays an essential role here. It aims to counter the “everyone’s coming” narrative that has persisted for the past four years.

Additionally, there’s the Federal plan aimed at reviewing the status of 55 million visa holders, which signals a focus on those who might be overstaying their visas—whether someone is clinging to their status or genuinely planning to return home.

Undoing Biden’s disruptive budget decisions remains crucial, despite a considerable budget expansion and presidential backing—detaining and deporting many could still prove challenging.

The need for extensive roundups can’t be understated; voters are expressing a desire for action against illegal immigrants, but there’s an acknowledgment that such enforcement needs a careful approach.

Seriously addressing the situation, particularly with the millions of those falsely claiming asylum during Biden’s term, will depend heavily on voluntary reporting.

It’s about taking proactive steps—but legally.

Trump’s re-election campaign promised full control over the situation.

His stance of halting new illegal entries has demonstrated that the Democrats’ claims about needing new legislation for progress are, frankly, misleading.

Now, it’s up to him to ensure a significant reduction in the number of undocumented immigrants, particularly those who have surged over recent years. This is a new challenge for him.

Leftist opposition to law enforcement around immigration continues to be vocal; however, this only reveals their more extreme positions to the general public. It’s been widely recognized that firm strategies provide exactly what the public seeks. One can expect Trump’s team to remain committed to their current strategies.
