Donald Trump Jr. got into a verbal spat with an MSNBC reporter during a heated interview at the Republican National Convention, blasting the liberal network as a “clown” and telling the reporter to “get the hell out of here.”
Donald Trump’s eldest son had a tense exchange with reporter Jacob Soboroff on Monday, the first day of the party convention where he was officially nominated for president.
Trump Jr. first drew backlash when Soboroff asked what a second term would be like under Trump, 78, suggesting he had been a “divisive figure” during his first stint in the Oval Office.
“I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all,” Trump Jr. argued. “I think the media created a divinity around him. They lied about Russia and Russian collusion, they said he was a traitor, and they went after him in every way possible.”
“I think it would be a great benefit to everyone across the country if the media really could be an honest intermediary and start talking about what he’s done, the prosperity he’s brought, the peace deals he’s signed all around the world, instead of the disaster that we’re experiencing right now.”
Soboroff then asked Trump Jr. whether he would try to separate migrant children whose fathers cross the border, leading to an even more tense exchange.
Trump Jr., who was standing next to his brother Eric Trump, his sister Tiffany Trump and his fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle, appeared to say the Obama administration had the same immigration policy, but Soboroff interjected, “You know, they didn’t do that.”
When Soboroff asked the same question, Trump Jr. blasted him.
“This is MSDNC and I expect nothing less from you clowns,” said Trump Jr. “Even today, after 48 hours, you couldn’t wait. You couldn’t wait with the lies and nonsense.”

“So just get out of here,” Trump Jr. finished, waving his hands.
Trump Jr.’s father, who arrived at the convention the day after surviving an assassination attempt, has made immigration a key theme of his campaign after a surge in illegal immigrants entering the United States under President Biden.
