Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 10 percentage points (51 percent to 41 percent) among military veterans, according to a 2024 presidential election poll released Thursday.
A new poll released by Semaphore shows Democrats' efforts to smear the former president's support for veterans are not working.

Democrats recently criticized Trump for using Arlington Cemetery as a backdrop for a campaign ad after he invited Gold Star families to join a solemn Labor Day ceremony honoring loved ones killed in the Biden-Harris administration's botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
President Trump laid a wreath in memory of the 13 fallen service members and then met with their families at Section 60 (a section reserved for soldiers who served in the war on terror) as well as service members who were injured during the harrowing retreat.
Democrats have accused Trump of politicizing the cemetery and said his video crew violated media rules, but ignored video of former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden that was filmed at the cemetery.

Democrats are also promoting a report, without publicly citing sources, that alleged Trump called World War II veterans buried in Normandy, France, “stupid losers.”
While the polls are focused on Trump, Harris's pick for vice president, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), has also been controversial. Waltz falsely claimed to be a retired master sergeant when in fact he retired one rank higher. He also falsely claimed to have been “at war” when he never deployed to a combat zone. Additionally, Waltz retired after announcing that his unit would likely be called up to Iraq and pledging to go, but he turned in his discharge papers before the unit was deployed.
The latest poll also found that Trump leads Harris among active-duty military veterans, 49 percent to 44 percent. The poll was conducted by Change Research for Veterans for Responsible Leadership among 1,703 voters from Aug. 23-29. Trump's visit to Arlington was on Aug. 26.
