Donald Trump Leads Kamala Harris by Double Digits

Former President Donald Trump has a double-digit approval rating in Ohio over Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new Fabrizio Ward/Impact Research poll conducted for AARP.

In a head-to-head match, Trump Lead Harris leads by 10 points (52%) to Harris’s 42%. The margin narrows slightly if third-party candidates are included in the race, in which case Trump leads with 48%, nine points ahead of Harris at 39%.

Another 9 percent chose independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., followed by Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver at 1 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 1 percent.

Trump maintains an advantage over Harris among independents, especially among them, with a four-point lead in head-to-head contests, but that lead has narrowed to two points in multicandidate races.

That aside, the poll found that Trump and Vance “both received a net favorability rating of +5 among Ohio voters, with Trump being the clearer favorite.”

“While both Biden and Harris have low approval ratings, Biden is viewed significantly more negatively than Harris,” the survey revealed, which also found that Trump’s “job performance approval” rating was +10 on the net, while Harris’s was -19 on the net.

The poll also looked at the closely watched race between Democratic incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, which showed Brown leading Moreno by 4 percentage points (46% to Moreno’s 42%), but 11% remain undecided — more than enough to swing the race.

Ultimately, the survey found that a majority of Ohio voters (74%) believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, with voters over 50 ranking border security and immigration, along with inflation and rising prices, as their top issues.

The full survey was conducted between July 23 and 28, 2024, among 1,384 voters.

This comes as Democrats have made Harris their de facto front-runner, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) running as one of her main supporters.

“The enthusiasm for Democrats to win the presidency, to take back the House and to hold onto the Senate can be cut with a knife. It’s obvious,” Schumer argued. “It’s just astounding. Everywhere I go, everyone I talk to, it’s like night and day difference.”

Last week, Schumer voiced his strong support for Harris, but his apparent enthusiasm went unsaid as he failed to elicit applause from anyone.
