Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by two points in Michigan, an AARP poll showed Thursday.
The poll highlighted Trump’s continuing lead in one of the most crucial battleground states in the 2024 election.
Political experts predict that seven states — Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina — will decide the presidential election. If Trump wins one or more of these states, Harris’ chances of winning the 270 electoral votes will be slim.
Trump has a 2-point lead.

Public Opinion Poll sampling The poll was conducted among 600 adults eligible to vote in the Aug. 7-8, 2024, election and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. 33% of those surveyed were Republicans, 32% were Democrats and 35% were independents.
Harris’ honeymoon period appears to be coming to an end: A US poll conducted in early August by the Democracy Institute and the Daily Express showed Trump ahead of Harris in the battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Trump also leads Harris by two points in Arizona, a key Sun Belt battleground state, according to a Peak Insights poll. Found Thursday.
The economy is the biggest challenge for 2024. Harris will unveil her administration’s plan to revive the U.S. economy on Friday. Media reports suggest she plans to push for price controls to curb alleged inflationary price gouging fueled by her administration.

Harris campaign advisers are concerned about releasing “messy details” of an economic plan because specifics could backfire on the campaign, people familiar with the discussions said. The Wall Street Journal.
