The commander is looking forward to a significant announcement coming on Monday.
President Donald Trump will reveal that the NFL Draft is set to move to the nation’s capital in 2027, as reported by Axios.
This announcement will take place at the White House, featuring NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Commander Owner Josh Harris, with a three-day event planned on the National Mall.
Just last week, Trump hosted the Eagles at the White House, where they played some golf. Before that, he spent the day with Saquon Barkley, connecting the hobby with NFL officials.
This NFL Draft marks another milestone for the Commanders, a team that has undergone a significant transformation under Harris, who took over after Dan Snyder’s long ownership.
The draft event has been beneficial for cities since its inception in 2015. For instance, Detroit recently saw record attendance with 750,000 people participating in the three-day event in 2024. Similarly, over 600,000 football fans clamored to Green Bay last month.
This news comes on the heels of another exciting development for Commander fans, as it was announced last week that local teams and officials reached an agreement regarding a new stadium at the RFK Stadium site.
The contract represents a return to what Trump considers his hometown for the first time since 1996, where the franchise has been located at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, since 1997.
Trump expressed his excitement over the Commanders’ new stadium deal, calling it “a big victory for Washington, D.C.”
