President Donald Trump's Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reopened the immigration detention center in Baldwin, Michigan, and has resumed President Joe Biden's closing. The detention centre will help ICE detain nearly 2,000 illegal aliens.
This week, Geo Group announced its contract with ICE to reopen Baldwin's immigration detention centre. It has the ability to retain around 1,800 illegal aliens and will not be released to the American community.
“We expect the Northlake facility, owned by a Michigan company, will play an important role in helping to meet the need for an increase in bed space at federal immigration processing centers,” George Zoley, executive chairman of Geo Group, said in a statement.
A source close to the issue told Breitbart News that the detention center was shut down by the Biden administration as part of a plan to terminate all private contracts with the Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
Before the closure, the detention center had criminal illegal aliens convicted of federal crimes and had a great economic drive in a small community of less than 1,000 residents.
Sources told Breitbart News that the Trump administration is working to reopen these idling centers where Biden has closed.
National Enforcement Centre (Nice) Chairman RJ Hauman said Trump is doing everything he can to reopen and reuse the shuttered detention centers to ensure as much bed space as possible for foreigners whose ice is illegal.
Congress must strengthen ice funding to ensure agencies can properly implement Trump's massive deportation agenda, Hauman told Breitbart News.
“The clock is etched into fundraising,” Hauman said. “ICE is not struggling to deliver for the safety, security and will of the American people by launching and maintaining a massive deportation effort. Our current accounts are dry.”
“Trump's election order would not have been clear. It's time for Congressional Republicans to accelerate to Trump's time, or they will soon own the next preventable tragedy at the hands of illegal foreigners of crime,” continued Hauman.
The reopening of immigration detention centers is an important tool for the Trump administration as nearly eight million illegal aliens remain in the “non-decisive dockets” of ice. That is, they live freely in the United States while they await deportation.
Among the millions of illegal aliens on the non-decisive dockets are 1.4 million who have received a final deportation order.
