Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that former President Donald Trump could lose the 2024 election to Vice President Kamala Harris if he makes personal attacks the centerpiece of his campaign.
Speaking on Fox News, Nikki Haley said, “You can’t win a campaign by talking about the size of the crowd. You can’t win by talking about what race Kamala Harris is. You can’t win by talking about whether she’s stupid or not. You can’t do that. You can’t win with that kind of talk. I think the campaign needs to be focused. That’s the No. 1 thing. This is a winnable election, but it needs to be focused.”
Host Kristen Welker asked, “Do you agree with Nikki Haley’s assessment?”
Graham said, “Well, I don’t think Vice President Kamala Harris is crazy. I think she’s the most liberal person ever nominated for president in the history of the United States. She’s following the Soviet playbook, lowering prices, what we call price controls. She wants to abolish private health care. I’m for reparations. I’m against fracking. I’m for the Green New Deal. So I’m about policy. Harris’ nightmare is defending policy choices.”
“Do you think former President Trump should stop talking about Vice President Harris’ race and intelligence?” Welker asked.
Graham said, “President Trump can win this election. His policies are good for America. Have a policy debate and he will win. Donald Trump is a provocateur and a showman, and he may not win this election.”
