Donalds, Hunt join Black Men for Trump in condemning Obama’s comments to Black men

Republican Reps. Byron Donald (Florida) and Wesley Hunt (Texas) have joined a group of black men who support Trump in condemning former President Obama's comments about black male voters.

a letter The Black Men's Advisory Council for President Trump has signed on, with its members condemning President Obama's comments Thursday night as “insulting” and “demeaning.”

“President Obama's recent call for black men to support Kamala Harris solely because of the color of her skin, not her policies, is deeply insulting,” the letter said.

“Black Americans are not a monolith, and we are not obligated to vote for any candidate just because they 'look like us.' Suggesting that we cannot evaluate a candidate's performance? It's humiliating — especially when Kamala Harris has done more harm than good to the black community.”

On Thursday, President Obama called on black men to vote for Vice President Harris, expressing disappointment at the lack of enthusiasm among black men for Harris.

“We haven't yet seen the kind of vibrancy and turnout that we saw when I was on the campaign trail in every aspect of our neighborhoods and communities,” Obama said.

He added, “Part of that makes me think, and I'm talking directly to the men, but part of it makes me think, well, the idea that you just make a woman president.'' Think of other alternatives and other reasons. ”

Obama faced backlash from others, including Democrats, over his comments this week.

Still, this comes at a time when one in four black men under 50 support Trump, according to a recent poll from the NAACP and HIT Strategies.

But Democrats have struggled with black male voters since 2008, when Mr. Obama was first elected.

Mr. Donald, Mr. Hunt, and President Trump's Black Men's Advisory Council attributed the loss of support among black men to “policy failures” within the Democratic Party that led to “family instability, educational delay, and economic opportunity.” He said that this has led to a lack of

“Reducing us to a race-based voting bloc perpetuates the worst kind of identity politics,” the letter added.

The men also argued that Harris' career as California's attorney general and vice president had disproportionately harmed and imprisoned black Americans.

“President Trump needs to return to office because he has done what no one else has done: real results for Black America,” the letter says. “He revived the American Dream by creating jobs, reducing Black unemployment, launching Opportunity Zones, and securing permanent funding for HBCUs. We have a chance to build, break the generational cycle, and prosper.”

The letter concludes that Trump “made America great once, and only he can make it again for Black families and this country.”
