Donna Mills encourages everyone to keep exercising as they age.

Donna Mills has shared that maintaining a good appearance as one ages “takes effort” and emphasized the importance of never stopping exercise.

“I think people really need to grasp that effort is involved. You can’t just wake up and say, ‘Oh, I’m going to look good,'” the “Knots Landing” star expressed during her appearance on Kara Meyer Robinson’s podcast. “I didn’t just wake up like this,” she added.

At 85, Mills confessed she works out nearly every day and enjoys playing tennis.

Mills highlighted her background as a dancer, stating, “I understand how crucial it is for the body.” She pointed out that, at her age, she hasn’t needed any major surgeries like knee or hip replacements. “It’s because I never stopped working out,” she explained.

She noted that many people tend to give up on exercise, especially after having children or as they age, saying, “So it hasn’t worked out for years. You can’t retrieve that time. Sure, you can pick up training again, but you lose something during that break.”

Her advice? “If you do it consistently, your body will respond how it should,” Mills stated.

The “Play Misty for Me” actress acknowledged that returning to exercise after a hiatus can be tough. She mentioned the initial stiffness and discomfort she feels but reassured that it gets better after a few days of consistent effort. “It’s challenging,” she admitted, reflecting on how she often thinks, ‘I’ll never do this again.’ But she encourages everyone to keep working out—“Just keep at it. Always.”
