Newly released body camera footage shows a New York woman allegedly armed with a knife being shot dead by Hyde Park police.
The incident occurred on April 29, 2022, and footage was released by the Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations on Tuesday.
Police were summoned to the Dutchess County home on the day of the incident following reports of physical domestic violence, the newspaper said. poughkeepsie journal. Footage of the incident, captured by Officer Christopher Miller’s body camera, begins with police escorting him through the house as Faith allegedly pulled a knife out of his pocket, the newspaper said. A policeman was heard repeatedly yelling “Knives!”
“911, send additional callers. They’re at gunpoint,” said one officer, as another officer pushed Faith to the living room floor and attempted to disarm him.
The officers then ran back to the kitchen and told Ms. Faith, “Go back!” when they tried to use a stun gun on her. The attempt failed, however, and Faith continued to approach officers with a knife in hand, the newspaper said.
The magazine said one of the officers was then heard yelling, “Shoot her,” and police officer Joshua Kemludge fired four shots at Face.
Faith’s partner was behind the officers when the incident happened and said he heard them yelling “No!” no! Don’t shoot her girlfriend! “
“Oh my god! Stay away from her. Stay away from her,” he yells as the cops restrain Faith, adding, “Don’t kill me. Don’t kill me.”
Faith was pronounced dead at the scene, the newspaper said. The Attorney General’s investigation into this incident is ongoing.
