James Comey, the former FBI director, shared on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that he doesn’t regret his “smart” social media posts.
Nicole Wallace, the host, prompted him to recall a beach walk, asking, “Take me for a walk on the beach.”
Comey responded, “We took a stroll at the beach to gear up for my book launch this week. I was all set to field any questions. As we walked back, I remembered my time as a server, where she did a lot in the restaurant scene. It’s a bizarre situation, asking for something like assassination.”
Wallace inquired, “Do you regret posting that picture?”
Comey replied, “I’m definitely distracted and do regret the surrounding controversy. Yet, it’s tough to feel regret for something that seems quite innocent based on your perspective.”
He continued, “I thought it was a creative way to share my political views. The shells matched the letter colors; the artwork took a lot of effort and clearly came from someone with talent. However, I believe there were darker motivations behind it.”
