‘Don’t You All Have Jobs?’: JD Vance Calls On Protesters Demonstrating Against His Event To Get ‘Back To Work’

Vice President JD Vance told workers in a speech Friday in Bay City, Michigan, that outside the event should “get out of the streets and return to work.”

Vance and U.S. Small Business Administration Chief Kelly Loeffler toured Vantage Plastics, a plastics manufacturer in Michigan, making comments on “emphasis on the American industry revival.” During his speech at the facility, the vice president said protesters outside the event were proof that President Donald Trump's administration needs to bring manufacturing back to the US to shorten their hands.

“We're sure we've seen this amazing event, this great facility, this great business, and of course, a great worker, and we've all seen a few protesters outside. Vance said. “I mean, who are the people? And I think it's one of the reasons why we have to rebuild American manufacturing and support great companies like Vantage Plastics. Vantage Plastics received a $1.2 million grant from Michigan in 2023, and was based in the state, creating 93 new jobs. According to Bridging Michigan. The event, attended by Vance and Loeffler, addressed the “future of American manufacturing” that the Trump administration has been working to improve.

Trump plans to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China. This includes 50% tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel imported into the US, with the aim of bringing manufacturing back to the US from overseas. The president also announced the creation of a “Shipbuilding Bureau,” which aims to revive both commercial and military shipbuilding at a time when China surpasses the US in maritime manufacturing.

The Hecklers cried out at Vance in their Monday speech at the National League of Cities in Washington, DC, in order to call for negative consequences of illegal immigration. The vice president fought back, saying some people hope that the US will suffer economic consequences due to illegal immigration.

The Vice President also laughed at attendees who booed him inside the John F. Kennedy Center by casually waving a drink during a symphony orchestra performance on Thursday.
