Doug Burgum Calls Donald and Melania Trump the 'Ultimate Power Couple'

Doug Burgum at Premiere of *Melania* Documentary

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum attended the world premiere of the new documentary *Melania* on Thursday. The film features personal stories from his time with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, alongside critiques of the film and the administration’s energy policies.

In a conversation with Breitbart News, Burgum shared his hopes for what viewers might take away from the documentary about Melania Trump.

The film presents an image of first ladies that challenges negative media portrayals.

Burgum remarked, “When Katherine and I were elected Governor and First Lady of North Dakota in November 2016, it coincided with President Trump winning his first presidential election alongside First Lady Melania Trump. Not long after, we were fortunate enough to be invited to the White House. I remember Kate sitting next to the President, and I was by Melania Trump.”

He continued, “From that moment, you could say they are the ultimate power couple. Her intelligence, poise, and ability to speak multiple languages are truly impressive. What they’ve accomplished together, particularly for the White House, is remarkable.”

Burgum addressed the film’s critical reception, noting, “It seems everyone wants to critique this president and his life, so it’s no surprise that a film about him faces scrutiny. I encourage people to watch it. As I understand, it provides an insightful look at a first lady marked by humility, intelligence, and pride in representing our nation.”

Earlier in the day, following a Cabinet meeting that coincided with President Trump’s second and tenth terms, Burgum stated, “President Trump campaigned on a promise of abundant energy and having an advantage in energy sales to allies. This approach could even help prevent conflicts overseas and bring about peace.”

He elaborated, saying, “Energy affects everything—what we eat, wear, and drive, as well as heating our homes. This week’s storms remind us that lower energy prices translate to lower costs across the board.”

“President Trump understands the crucial link between energy and national security. You simply can’t separate energy from our economy. His approach to energy diplomacy is groundbreaking. With steps we’re taking now, we’re shifting the geopolitical focus back to the Western Hemisphere, traditionally tied to oil production. It’s an impressive strategy,” Burgum concluded.
