Down-Ballot Democrats Distance Themselves from Biden After Debate

Democrats who are low-ranking contenders in the 2024 presidential race will likely distance themselves from former President Donald Trump following his poor performance last week in a debate with President Joe Biden, in which he appeared cognitively sluggish and impaired.

According to a report by Dietsch, AxiosDemocrats in battleground states and other key districts may decide to forego campaigning for the president. One House Democrat, who asked not to be named, told the outlet that a “desperate effort” will be made to avoid Biden during the election.
