Dr. Drew Reflects on Early Covid-19 Response
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Drew placed his trust in experts, but that confidence was short-lived. He recalls, “In the beginning, we were trying to calm everyone down. We could see panic, delusionality,” he told Alex Stein, the host of “Primetime with Alex Stein.”
Reflecting on his mistakes, Drew admits, “What I’m really wrong is, I said, ‘Learn the CDC, listen to Dr. Forsey; I know these people. Let Forsey be your North Star, he’ll get us through this.” He emphasizes that he often repeated this advice, and in hindsight, that’s what he feels he got wrong.
He shares his past experience: “I was very active during the AIDS pandemic. I treated hundreds, perhaps thousands of AIDS patients. Dr. Forsey was extremely helpful to me as a practitioner back then. He was a good North Star 35 years ago. It didn’t work out that way this time.”
Stein’s confidence in the medical establishment began to wane when Covid struck his family. His mother fell ill, and the hospital offered Remdesivir against his wishes instead of saving her. Tragically, she died just a week later.
“When I say this, I’m not a conspiracy theorist. They wanted more people to die from this because it made their story seem more valid. It wasn’t about the 99% survival,” Stein stated firmly.
He went on to describe his final moments with his mother: “My mother passed away in my arms. She spoke to me before going. And five days later, she can’t even breathe.”
Drew responded, acknowledging the situation: “I’m sure you should have lost faith. Public health has proven itself a catastrophe. We can’t even trust in our lack of care.”
Stein expressed his ongoing concerns, “It seems they didn’t even want to save my mother. I’m not saying they killed her, even though that’s how I feel personally. This will happen again, Dr. Doctor.”
