Former TV Doctor’s Unusual Health Advice Sparks Social Media Reaction
On Monday, former TV doctor Mehmet Oz shared some striking—and, some might say, questionable—advice for those facing the potential loss of Medicaid.
Oz emphasized that programs like Medicare and Medicaid are meant to support Americans who are financially struggling or require healthcare due to age-related issues. He also mentioned during his conversation with Fox host Stuart Varney that it’s crucial for individuals to prioritize their health as well.
“When you need Medicare and Medicaid help, we’re there for you, the people in America, but you need to stay healthy too,” Oz remarked. “Be essential. Make the most of what you can do to truly live in God-given possibilities.”
However, it was his subsequent remark that really caught people’s attention and sparked a flurry of social media commentary.
“You know, don’t eat carrot cakes. Eat real food,” he stated.
Interestingly, he even brought a carrot cake along for Varney during the interview. “We couldn’t find a healthy cake, so we brought the closest one: the carrot cake,” he explained.
Unsurprisingly, Oz’s suggestion that avoiding carrot cake could lead to better access to affordable healthcare has resulted in a wave of mockery online.
This isn’t the first time Oz has faced criticism for his food-related opinions. After losing the 2022 Senate race in Pennsylvania, he was mocked for a grocery store video that focused on what he thought would be the cost of a Crudité platter.
