Dr. Oz Critiques Government Shutdown on Glenn TV

Dr. Oz, who heads President Trump’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, recently appeared on “Glenn TV” with co-founder Glenn Beck. He spoke out against what he sees as misleading claims made by the left regarding the current government shutdown.

“What the Democrats are doing is truly reprehensible,” Oz stated. “This is a process that, like it or not, has been unfolding for quite some time.” He emphasized the ongoing issues of fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicaid, mentioning incidents where funds appear to be directed toward illegal immigrants. “Interestingly, we’re not funding this in California. People in states like Mississippi, Texas, and Florida are getting taxed, and that money flows to California,” he elaborated.

“We’ve put a stop to it. There’s no going back,” he continued. “We can’t extend this for another seven weeks just to negotiate further. The shutdown would only disrupt Medicaid and Medicare, which can’t afford to be impacted by such measures.”

He likened the situation to a high-stakes poker game, claiming it’s unfair. “And frankly, Democrats aren’t holding many cards here,” he noted.

Beck pointed out that some Democrats are now considering actions to assist illegal immigrants in emergency rooms, even in life-threatening situations. Oz countered that this oversimplifies the issue, stating, “There are regulations ensuring that anyone needing life-saving care will receive it. If care is denied, the provider faces consequences. This conversation isn’t just about providing care; it’s about granting benefits to illegal immigrants.”

He used California as a prime example, saying, “In California, illegal immigrants on Medicaid receive free dental care, which he believes is unfair to American citizens.” He stressed, “Californians aren’t shouldering that burden. The federal government is essentially taxing all other states to finance healthcare for illegal immigrants in California.”
