Dr. Phil describes Ilhan Omar's comments about the US and Trump as 'wild remarks'

Dr. Phil Critiques Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Comments

Dr. Phil recently criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar for her remarks suggesting that the U.S. is among the “worst countries” globally. He acknowledged her right to express such views but expressed skepticism about her intended message.

During a June interview with Democracy!, Omar reflected on her past in a dictatorship and remarked on the challenges of achieving democracy.

Omar, who was born in Somalia, commented on President Donald Trump’s military parade that occurred on Flag Day, which celebrated the founding of the U.S. military. She described the spending on this event as reminiscent of a dictatorship’s extravagances and suggested it was damaging the country.

“This should serve as a wake-up call for Americans,” she said. “It’s not what our founders envisioned, nor does it reflect our core values or ideals. We need to unite against these troubling developments.”

Dr. Phil, in his response, accused Omar of being ungrateful. “She should be thankful for what America has given her,” he stated. He pointed out her previous controversial comments, implying a pattern of critical statements about the U.S.

He further suggested that if Omar found America so distressing, she might consider returning to Somalia. “Why not go back to a place that struggles with significant issues like corruption and violence?” he mused, contrasting her refugee success story to the difficulties still present in her country of origin.

In his remarks, Dr. Phil highlighted alarming conditions in Somalia, including widespread female genital mutilation and other severe societal challenges. He noted that while Omar has navigated these complexities to reach Congress, the situation back home remains dire.
