Drake Cheers on the Blue Jays in World Series
Drake, a proud Toronto native and sports enthusiast, seems all set to celebrate like it’s 1993. The Grammy-winning artist is backing his hometown team, the Blue Jays, as they aim for their first World Series title in over three decades.
On Wednesday night, the Blue Jays took a 3-2 series lead in Game 5, thanks in part to an impressive 12 strikeouts by rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage, who’s just 22 years old. Following the victory, Drake, known for his playful social media presence, took to Instagram to poke fun at the Dodgers and star player Shohei Ohtani.
He humorously declared, “One more thing!!!!!!” in a post that immediately grabbed attention. The rapper then shared a snapshot of Ohtani striking out during a World Series at-bat, clearly enjoying the moment.
In another Instagram Story, Drake commented, “He’s already brutal towards the boss in the dugout (lol),” showcasing his humorous take on the game’s tensions.
Interestingly, Drake was present for Game 1 of the series, which fell on his 39th birthday, at the Rogers Center. The World Series is set to continue with Game 6 in Toronto this Friday. If the Dodgers can pull through, they’ll push for a decisive Game 7, keeping their hopes of a consecutive championship alive.
While Game 5 took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Drake was courtside earlier at a Raptors game against the Houston Rockets. He has a notable connection to the Raptors, serving as an ambassador for the team.
Game 6 of the World Series is scheduled to kick off at 8 PM ET on FOX.
