Drake Maye Shares Marriage Advice Ahead of Super Bowl
During the Super Bowl Opening Night, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye decided to offer some personal advice to his teammates: consider getting married.
In an interview with reporters in San Jose, the 23-year-old expressed his strong belief in the value of marriage. “My teammates have the right to choose whatever they want,” Maye acknowledged, “but I would definitely advise them to get married. It’s one of the best things in life, and honestly, it’s been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. There’s really nothing quite like coming home to a wife who loves and cares for you.”
As reported by People magazine, Maye wed his middle school sweetheart, Ann Michael Hudson, in June 2025. The two met as teens and later went to the University of North Carolina together. “I chose to get married young, and I don’t regret it at all,” he added.
Former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak mentioned that the couple chose to donate their wedding gifts to local children’s shelters and homeless centers in North Carolina.
Maye’s remarks about marriage coincided with his expression of Christian faith during Super Bowl week. He told reporters that maintaining a strong relationship with God is a priority in his life. “I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, and the biggest thing for me is to keep that number one,” he said. In an interview with Crosswalk’s Sports Spectrum, he expanded on his purpose beyond football, indicating, “That’s what I’m here for, to shine a light on others and lead them to follow Jesus Christ.”
Beyond his personal life, Maye has also been a strong leader on the field. This season, he led the Patriots to a notable 14-3 record and an AFC East title. He threw for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns, leading the league in both completion percentage and passer rating, and is currently a frontrunner for the NFL MVP award.
The Patriots are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in Super Bowl LX.
