Drake May is Good to Go for Super Bowl
It looks like Drake May, the Patriots quarterback, is all set for the 2026 Super Bowl against the Seahawks in Santa Clara, California. On Friday, he was removed from the team’s final injury report, signaling that he’ll be ready to play.
Earlier in the week, May had limited practice due to a shoulder issue. Just last Friday, however, he completely missed practice because of what was called an “injury and illness,” as reported by Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. This led to some doubts about whether he would be at full strength for the big game.
During the Patriots’ AFC Championship victory over the Broncos, May was tackled hard and landed on his throwing shoulder, raising concerns among fans and analysts alike. In that game, he only managed to throw for 86 yards, which, well, is pretty low for him—he completed just about 48% of his passes. So, it makes sense why people were speculating if the 2025 NFL MVP runner-up wasn’t feeling quite like himself.
Despite the worries, the Patriots squashed any doubts with their announcement on Friday. May himself had earlier reassured that he would be ready for Sunday’s matchup.
He expressed confidence about his condition, saying, “I feel good. I’ll be fine. I pitched well.” He felt he had thrown just like he usually does in practice, which is a hopeful sign.
On the other hand, some injury concerns persist for the Patriots’ defense with linebackers Harold Landry III (knee) and Robert Spillane (ankle) both participating in limited practice on Friday, leaving their availability in question.
Meanwhile, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is also dealing with some injury worries, battling a lingering torticollis problem. He reassured the media earlier this week, stating he was “feeling great.” On a more positive note for Seattle, rookie safety Nick Emanwori was a full participant in practice on Friday after dealing with an ankle injury just a couple of days prior.
