Drake Maye’s MVP Chants Fill Gillette Stadium
If New England fans were given the chance to vote, selecting an MVP would be a straightforward choice.
During Thursday night’s game at Gillette Stadium, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was met with enthusiastic chants of “MVP” as he left the field after securing a 27-14 victory against the Jets.
The 23-year-old quarterback had an impressive outing, throwing for 281 yards and a touchdown, reinforcing the growing belief that he’s a leading candidate for the league’s MVP title.
This passing yard total marked the third-highest of his still-nascent NFL career.
Fans in Foxboro made sure to show their appreciation by vocally cheering for Maye as he addressed the sky cameras on Thursday Night Football post-game.
In discussing his success, Maye mentioned how much credit he gives to coach Mike Vrabel and those around him who support his efforts. “I still have a lot of work to do,” he emphasized humbly.
Before the game, Maye’s statistics—2,555 passing yards and a 71.7 completion percentage—ranked him third in the NFL.
Head coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged the expectations placed on Maye, stating, “His performance is what we expected. We have high expectations for Drake, and he has high hopes for himself, so he’ll keep growing and staying humble.”
With this victory, the Patriots moved their record to 9-2. The team’s next challenges are against the Bengals on November 23 and the Giants on December 1.
