One of the prominent figures in the NFL is generating buzz not only for his performance but also for his compelling beliefs, especially regarding marriage at a young age.
Drake Maye of the New England Patriots has had a significant impact in just his second season, leading the team to the Super Bowl with impressive stats: 4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, along with a completion rate topping the league at 72 percent. The Patriots are set to face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX this Sunday.
This week, Maye shared his perspective with reporters, emphasizing that his faith in Christ is foundational for his sense of peace both on and off the field. He described faith as “a constant in my life.”
“That’s what I’m here for: to be able to shine a light on others and lead them to follow Jesus Christ.”

“The night before the game, we were here spreading the Word and listening to it, focusing on what’s truly important—much more than football. It helped me take a step back and recognize my purpose. This stage is about shining a light for others, following Christ, which is what God intended for me.”
Moreover, Maye is also making headlines for his unconventional choice to marry young. He tied the knot with his middle school sweetheart, Ann Michael, last summer at the age of 22, expressing that he has no regrets.
“My teammates can choose their paths, but I would definitely encourage them to consider marriage,” he remarked in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. “It’s one of the best experiences of my life. Coming home to a loving wife who cares for you and has your best interests at heart is unmatched.”
“…I chose to get married young, and I have no regrets about that at all.”
