Draymond Green Ejected in Warriors’ Victory Against Jazz
During Saturday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors received an ejection. This marked the 25th ejection of his career, with 22 occurring during the regular season—remarkably, this was the second time in just eight games.
The incident unfolded when Green made a defensive play against Kyle Filipovski. He gestured to the nearby referee to call a three-second foul against himself. Following a Jazz score, Green reacted with an intense scream, which drew a technical foul.
After the whistle, he approached referee Kevin Cutler, seemingly expressing his discontent loudly. Almost immediately, he was assessed a second technical foul, leading to his removal from the game.
Post-game, both Green’s teammates and Coach Steve Kerr came to his defense. “We really need Draymond on the court,” Kerr stated. “So, I hope he can keep it together moving forward because we have a long way to go this season.” He mentioned that Green might rack up several more technicals before it’s all said and done, as they weren’t even halfway through the season.
Stephen Curry, the Warriors’ star player, shared his thoughts on Green’s ejection, stating, “I didn’t think what happened warranted an ejection. The general feeling in the locker room was that it was excessive.” It’s interesting, isn’t it? How perspectives can differ so widely.
Despite the ejection, the Warriors managed to clinch a victory over the Jazz, finishing with a score of 123-114. This win brought their record to 19 wins and 17 losses. Notably, there had been previous tensions between Green and Kerr during a game against the Orlando Magic in December, highlighting a pattern of ups and downs this season.
