Draymond Green shares his thoughts on the Kristaps Porzingis trade amidst health worries

Warriors Considering Trade for Kristaps Porzingis

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly exploring the possibility of trading center Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis has been absent for several months due to an undisclosed health issue. Warriors star Draymond Green discussed the situation on his podcast, touching on both Porzingis’s absence and his future with the team.

“I wouldn’t say the news was exactly a distraction yesterday, more like you just kind of… forgot about it. We’ve gone through an entire training camp and preseason without him, so you get used to the guys who are around. Then this news pops up, and it makes you think about it again. It’s not the biggest distraction, but it’s definitely frustrating,” Draymond commented regarding Porzingis’s situation.

He added, “I saw that Shams reported the Warriors might be looking to trade him. Shams knows more about this stuff than we do, so we’ll see what happens. I just wish him well. Health is the most important thing, regardless of whether he plays basketball again or not. Bad health is tough to deal with.”

Porzingis’s absence is a significant blow for the Warriors, especially since he’s their only player over 7 feet tall. His skills for stretching the floor, rebounding, and providing a strong defensive presence are things Golden State will certainly miss.

Though the Warriors signed Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million extension during the offseason, they were aware of his ongoing health concerns. Now, it seems there’s a genuine possibility that he could end his basketball career due to this mysterious illness that has kept him off the court.
