Dream star Allisha Gray makes WNBA history with wins in skills competition, 3-point contest

Atlanta Dream star Alisha Gray made league history on Friday night by becoming the first player in league history to win both the skills competition and the 3-point contest.

Gray completed the skills course in the first portion in 31.2 seconds, then finished in 32.1 seconds in the final, holding off Phoenix Mercury shooter Sophie Cunningham.

Next up is the three-point contest.

Gray had to give it her all to beat Kayla McBride, Marlena Mabry, Jonquel Jones and Stephanie Dolson. She scored 23 points in the first round but managed to come in second to New York Liberty star Jones, who had 25 points.

The former University of South Carolina star saved his energy and led the team to a victory in the final, scoring 23 points to Jones’ 20.

Gray won both contests and received $115,150 in prize money, including $55,000 for first place in the 3-Point Contest. Yahoo Sports.

Gray was selected to the All-Star team for the second time in his career and is averaging 15.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season while shooting 36 percent from the 3-point line.

The Dream acquired Gray from the Dallas Wings prior to the start of the 2023 season. She will be a first-time All-Star in 2023.

The headlining event of Saturday night’s festivities will see the WNBA All-Stars take on the U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team.
