Drew Barrymore recently opened up about a concerning incident involving her daughter during an appearance on “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” The actress revealed that her child sustained serious injuries from an e-bike accident while the family was in France.

Before launching the sixth season of her talk show, Barrymore admitted feeling anxious about canceling her last meeting with Colbert’s wife, Evelyn McGee Colbert, whom she considers her best friend. However, she clarified that it was for a valid reason.

“Yes, she’s fine. Everything’s okay,” Barrymore reassured. “My daughter had an e-bike accident in France, which sounds dramatic.” She added, her daughter was about a mile deep in the mountains when she fell and scraped her elbows.

Remarkably, Barrymore noted, “She even used her bra as a tourniquet.”

Colbert, trying to lighten the mood, responded, “You raised her right. Did you prepare her for this?” Barrymore couldn’t help but marvel at her daughter’s quick thinking in a tough situation, saying, “I’m just amazed by her.”

Barrymore shares two daughters, Olive and Frankie, with her ex-husband Will Kopelman. The couple divorced in 2016 after four years of marriage.

Reflecting on parenthood, the actress has previously mentioned that there’s no definitive guide when it comes to raising children. “It feels overwhelming sometimes; I often think, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing.’” She emphasized the importance of learning through experience.

Barrymore humorously commented on how parenting has evolved since her childhood, recalling that her own parents were rather lenient, saying they left food out for hours without much concern. She believes that such freedom has fostered resilience in parenting today.
