Drew Barrymore is taking a different approach to the new season of her talk show.
The host of “The Drew Barrymore Show” said: Tonight’s Entertainment She plans to give her guests a little more leeway during interviews.
“I’ll try to maintain physical distancing. That’s not my forte,” Barrymore said with a hearty laugh.
She added, “Do you know how hard the pandemic has been for me? I was in the studio all by myself! I love being around people!”

Barrymore agreed.[It’s] Not everyone likes it, and I feel bad for those who do.”
The talk show host has made headlines several times in the past for getting very close physically to interview subjects on his shows.
Jennifer Garner, Kerry Washington, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and Lionel Richie were among those hugging or kneeling to hold hands as Barrymore passionately chatted to them.

In April, she met with Vice President Kamala Harris and shook her hand after asking her to “be the mamalla of this country.”

One of the most infamous examples of Barrymore’s hands-on approach was her December 2023 interview with famed talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
She took Winfrey’s hand, caressed her arm and held her tight when Winfrey tried to move slightly on the couch.
Amid online criticism, Winfrey told TMZ at the time that she enjoyed Barrymore’s assertive approach during the interview and admitted that she found it comforting. She added that she found Barrymore adorable and liked the way she was being herself. Winfrey later joked that she now demands the same kind of affection from her longtime partner, Stedman Graham.

“We’re always going to be about joy and laughter and feel good, and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never thought I’d start doing during a pandemic,” Barrymore told ET. “It was really weird and quirky at the time to try to lean into joy and feel good and comedy.”
“The Drew Barrymore Show” will premiere in December 2020 and has been extended for two more seasons, running until 2026.
“We’ve been through so many uncertain years, which makes it all the more exciting,” the 49-year-old said.

“When we wanted to launch during the pandemic, it wasn’t the obvious way to do it, and it was a big risk. And I think it led to uncertainty, but it also led to possibility. And if we hadn’t been given that opportunity, that unusual timing, we wouldn’t be here today.”
