Oddsmakers aren’t ruling out Drew Lock as the Giants’ starting quarterback in Week 1.
DraftKings Sportsbook has him at +275 odds behind center when the Vikings visit MetLife Stadium on Sept. 8.
Sixth-year quarterback Daniel Jones is the favorite to lead Big Blue in Week 1, with a -425 chance to start.
But with Jones suffering a neck injury and season-ending torn ACL in November, Lock may get an opportunity as the fall approaches.
In March, Lock denied rumors that he had signed a one-year, $5 million contract to compete with Jones for the position.
“Daniel Jones is the starter for this team,” Lock said. “That has been communicated to me.”
“Right now, I need to push Daniel to be his best,” Lock added. “I’ve been on both sides. I’ve been the one pushing starters and I’ve been the one being pushed by relief pitchers. It’s about making the most of that opportunity. If we can do that, the sky is the limit for this team.”
Jones, who is returning from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, took part in 7-on-7 drills earlier this month and is expected to do more in camp as the team enters Phase 3 of its voluntary offseason training program.
General manager Joe Sean said late last season that Jones is expected to be the Week 1 starter in 2024 if he is healthy.

Jones is entering the second year of a four-year, $160 million contract but has no guaranteed money remaining on it after this season.
The Giants considered acquiring a quarterback in April’s NFL draft, trading up to acquire North Carolina’s Drake Maye at No. 3 overall, but decided to stick with the status quo and select wide receiver Malik Neighbors with the No. 6 pick.
