Drew McIntyre discusses his journey to regain fitness

WWE Star Drew McIntyre’s Challenging Year

Drew McIntyre, a prominent figure in WWE, has faced a tough year, and that might even be an understatement.

His recent storyline featured a fierce feud with CM Punk and an intense rivalry with a priest that resulted in him suffering an eye injury just before WrestleMania 41.

McIntyre’s match with this priest was a notable moment, as he returned to “Friday Night Smackdown” last week. During this return, he aimed for Randy Orton and received an RKO after feeling that Orton had overstepped a boundary. This weekend, he will face Orton again in “Saturday Night Main Event.”

As he prepared for the event, McIntyre mentioned that fans would notice the changes in his physique, thanks to his rigorous gym routines. He shared, “Honestly, I haven’t felt this good in six or seven years. This break allowed me to step back and view things differently. I’m competing against myself as much as the product.”

He reflected on his physical condition, admitting, “While I may look solid compared to others, I recognized I was only giving about 65%. I really need to push myself further.”

McIntyre felt proud to share with fitness magazines about his ability to enjoy his favorite foods while maintaining his impressive physique and preparing for the ring.

However, during his time away, he reset his goals. “For the first time, I hired someone to help me with my diet and to motivate me at the gym. I started incorporating stretches and routines I had never tried before, and it’s been transformative.”

He expressed eagerness to demonstrate what he’s capable of during his next run. “It’s a little frustrating that it took me this long to gain perspective. But looking in the mirror, I realized I wasn’t pushing hard enough and that I needed to change.”

McIntyre concluded with a candid remark, “I don’t even feel like I’m in the top three anymore. Honestly, if I’m not No. 1, then what am I doing?”
