Driver Evades Police at Over 100 mph
On New Year’s Eve, a driver hit speeds exceeding 100 mph while eluding California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Dublin, about 40 minutes southeast of San Francisco. Reports indicate that around 8:20 a.m., this driver—behind the wheel of a black Chevrolet Camaro—dashed from officers along the westbound lanes of I-580, near its intersection with Interstate 680.
The CHP disclosed that they witnessed the vehicle travelling at very high speeds and noted the license plate was “black with yellow or white writing.” But the more striking part of the story? Their claim that drivers could somehow “black out” or turn off their plates. Isn’t that, well, odd?
“If you have any leads that can help us capture this vehicle, we’d appreciate it!” the CHP urged in their appeal for public assistance.
This incident raised quite a few eyebrows, particularly regarding how the driver managed such a feat. Officials haven’t clarified if the Camaro had a digital license plate or if some alteration was made to mask its identity. Both scenarios are concerning, as they suggest potential new methods for evading police—something that could allow individuals to dodge accountability for not just traffic violations but more serious offenses.
The CHP’s Facebook post about this strange occurrence has attracted around 8,000 comments and keeps growing. People seem to love to weigh in, and perhaps it’s because, well, law enforcement isn’t always flawless.
- “Looks like you guys need a faster car,” quipped one commentator.
- Another chimed in, “If there’s a gap, just say so!” adding that there’s no need to hide the truth.
- A third commented, “Kudos to the getaway driver!” punctuating the sentiment with a laughing emoji.
- “He got away because he could drive fast better than any cop could chase him,” another user noted. “If by chance you catch him, maybe offer him a job.”
