A massive emergency response was called after reports that a driver fleeing from police crashed his car into a shopping mall in Texas, leaving multiple people injured.
At 5:40 p.m. Saturday, dozens of police and emergency vehicles were seen responding to Killeen Mall, 130 miles north of Austin.
It is unclear how many people were injured or how the chase began, but police said on Facebook that the incident was under control.
“The area is safe at this time,” Killeen police posted on their Facebook page. “We ask that you avoid the area as first responders investigate.”
A Killeen Police Department spokesperson said a chase that started in Belton ended in a crash at a shopping mall.
In a video posted to X, the mall's parking lot can be seen crowded with emergency response vehicles.
Police also canceled rumors on social media that there was a gunman.
