Driver without regard for the law takes control of MTA bus at NYC depot, leaves with operator still inside, according to police

A scofflaw managed to hop behind the wheel of an MTA bus at a Brooklyn depot on Monday, causing quite the stir with a rather unusual driver on board.

According to authorities, the 32-year-old suspect slipped into a B6 bus parked at the Ulmer Park Bus Depot on Harway Avenue, close to Bay 38th Avenue in Bass Beach, around 12:40 AM. Sources indicated that this individual, who seems to have a fascination with the buses, often appears at the depot, possibly waiting for the driver to enter and start their shift.

Somehow, the intruder was able to drive off with the operator still on board, making it just a block away to the intersection of Cropsy Street and 25th, where he crashed into a parked car. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and took him into custody. As of now, charges are pending, and the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed.
